Solutions to Global Warming/Climate change
The single most important action needed is quickly moving toward eliminating fossil fuel energy. It will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit the planet’s temperature increase.
To reach that goal, we must electrify buildings and vehicles with the electricity generated by renewable sources including solar and wind, build with low-carbon materials, eliminate natural gas in buildings, and eliminate gasoline and diesel in vehicles.
Carbon sinks are features that remove more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than they emit. Examples are forests, prairies, seagrass, and soil. Planting more trees and plants, while protecting wild areas are ways to naturally sequester more carbon dioxide.
Moving toward more sustainable agriculture will sequester more carbon dioxide while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

What can you do to reduce your carbon footprint and fight climate change?
- Quickly move to electrify your house and vehicles and move away from natural gas and other fossil fuels. Install heat pumps for water and space heating and induction stoves for cooking. Rebates and other incentives are available.
- Buy 100 percent renewable electric power and consider installing solar panels and batteries.
- Plant trees to sequester carbon (native oaks are one of the best).
- Conserve water and energy. Reduce trash disposal to landfills.
- Move towards a plant-based diet.
- Drive and travel less. Walk and ride your bike more.
- Join and support organizations working to fight climate change.
- Vote. Support elected officials committed to addressing climate change.
