Protea Hummingbird Lily
Watercolor ink and acrylic on Aquabord
My botanical paintings are expressions of how I perceive nature, with beauty and symmetry and imperfection existing side by side. I spend time observing shapes, textures and features of plants, birds and insects and celebrate what I see in my work. The protea and hummingbird were the inspirations for this yellow-pink-orange composition. I have included nasturtium and wild cucumber leaves, a bachelor button and a stone found by the seashore.
