Leslie Clark
Sequoia Triptych

Oil on linen
$2800
The mighty sequoia is the most massive tree on the planet and one of the oldest. It can only live at a certain altitude in a narrow band of the southern Sierra Nevada mountains in California. For a hundred years we suppressed fire and no new trees were able to germinate, but we now know better and help its survival by controlled burns and allowing fire. This tree could have persevered through all the cataclysmic events for over 3,000 years. If only we could know what it has seen and what it will see?
